Former housekeeper thanks TikTok for ‘crazy year’ of success: 'You have broken through so many stereotypes'

Former housekeeper thanks TikTok for ‘crazy year’ of success: 'You have broken through so many stereotypes'

A housekeeper credits leveling up in 2021 to her success on TikTok.

Traveling home for the holidays? Here are 4 things you need to do right now

Vanesa Amaro is co-owner of Amaros Cleaning in Austin, Texas. Amaro started the business with her husband when he was laid off from work four years ago. In 2020, Amaro was bored during the lockdown and began sharing cleaning tips on TikTok. Now she has 4.8 million followers.

Sweden is much more than IKEA furniture — here's why you should visit:

“I was just bored in quarantine. I was going to clean my bathroom and realized a lot of people were never taught how to clean properly or what products they should use,” Amaro told KSAT. “I just started sharing and it became a big deal.”

In December, Amaro posted a video in which she described her major 2021 wins.

“It has been a crazy year. I became a Clorox official spokesperson. I started my line of cleaning supplies with Scrub Daddy and created my cleaning e-book,” she said in the caption.

While Amaro wrote a book, launched Scrub Babies and snagged a major sponsorship deal, she is still in the housekeeping business.

“Been watching you since the beginning, and you deserve it all!” someone commented.

“This gives such a good hype to businesswomen who clean homes. For a long time, there was a bad stigma around cleaning workers,” another wrote.

“As a Hispanic woman, this makes me so freaking happy. You have broken through so many stereotypes,” a user said.
