A former barista shared her insider secrets for saving when ordering some of Starbucks’ secret menu items — including the Dirty Chai Latte.
The viral drink, a chai latte with a shot of espresso, is one of the most noteworthy Starbucks orders to spread widely on TikTok. In a world where a new Starbucks secret menu item goes viral each week, the highly caffeinated beverage still stands out.

Thanks to TikTok user @meanychristiney, it’s now possible to save tons of money ordering it. In a recent clip, the former barista revealed how customers can save over $2 on the Dirty Chai Latte.
As @meanychristiney explains in her clip, customers usually order the Dirty Chai by asking for a chai latte with one or two extra shots of espresso. However, Starbucks charges for each extra shot of espresso.
So to avoid that added cost, @meanychristiney suggests ordering a regular latte and adding chai syrup. Extra pumps of chai syrup only cost 60 cents extra, which, according to the former barista, is less than the average added espresso shot.
To prove her point, @meanychristiney showed how much difference the hack would make if you ordered a Venti-sized Dirty Chai both ways. Doing it her way, the cost was over $2 cheaper.
The TikToker called her version a “super dirt cheap” Dirty Chai, and many TikTokers seemed to agree. Several commenters praised the menu hack.
“I feel like this TikTok was made for me specifically,” one user wrote.
“Omg … queen,” another added.
The former barista is the latest current or ex-Starbucks employee to take TikTok by storm. In recent months, employees have also gone viral for sharing the strangest order request they’ve gotten, a drink that was so elaborate it forced their blender to overflow and a crazy mishap with the receipt printer.
