Four ponies have died following a collision with a Land Rover Discovery in the New Forest National Park.

The animals were killed on Roger Penny Way while licking salt just before 9pm on Thursday, police said.

Three ponies were confirmed dead at the scene which is north of Brook, with the fourth being found dead nearby.

Hampshire Constabulary is investigating the cause of the accident on the road which has a 40mph speed limit.
