Fraport confident of passenger target for Frankfurt Airport

FRANKFURT, June 15 (Reuters) - Fraport (IOB: 0O1R.IL - news) is expecting passenger numbers at Frankfurt Airport to rise by slightly more than the increase of almost 4 million passengers recorded for 2017, its chief executive said.

"This year could be a little higher," Stefan Schulte said at an event in Frankfurt.

Passenger numbers at Frankfurt rose by some 3.7 million to 64.5 million in 2017, and the group has forecast that number could rise to as much as 68.5 million this year, an increase of 4 million passengers, or a rise of 6.2 percent.

In the first five months of this year, Frankfurt Airport has seen passenger numbers rise 8.9 percent, helped by the expansion of main customer Lufthansa (Xetra: LHAB.DE - news) and also Ryanair, a new entrant to Germany's largest airport.
