Tip of the week

Encourage saving habits with kids from an early age.

My Money Week from 11 June aims to help educate young people about money management. Rose St Louis, Savings Expert at Zurich UK says parents should encourage saving from an early age.

“Encouraging them to engage with their finances from a young age will prepare them for when they eventually become financially independent,” she says.

Also, building a budget encourages your child to take a close look at their spending habits.

“When you go food shopping for example, give kids a set amount of money to see what they can buy on a budget. It will allow them to develop a better understanding of value and is good practice for when they leave home, get a job or go to university.”
