Free pint and PPI advice: this week's deals and discounts

There’s a great bunch of money-saving deals and discounts for you to grab this week, including a free pint and PPI advice.

But don’t forget, a bargain is only a good deal if you were planning to splash out on it anyway.

Free beer or cider

Starting next Friday 20 July is national Pub Fortnight, which runs until 5 August. As part of the event the Bermondsey Pub Company is giving away free pints at its boozers.

Drinks on offer will include Heineken, Strongbow Original & Dark Fruits, as well as Old Mout Cider and Bulmers.

To get a free pint – there’ll only be 25 at each pub – register now here to be told when the offers start. You’ll be sent a link to get your drink when the freebie goes live.

Amazon Prime Day offers

Online retailer Amazon is holding its yearly Prime Day from Monday 16 July at noon for Prime members. The company is promising a range of offers and the money-saving event will run until midnight on Tuesday 17 July at midnight.

They’ve been keeping the deals under wraps but have promised discounts of up to 30% on such items as Bang & Olufsen wireless headphones and a Sony digital travel camera. There’ll also be the usual offers on the company’s range of Kindle and Fire tablets.

The company also promises lots of flash deals, although judging by previous events they won’t be particularly tempting. However if you are planning to buy any items in the next few days it’s worth checking to see if you can get extra savings.

Halfords daily deals

Motoring and cycling chain Halfords is getting in on the Amazon Prime Day event with a series of its own daily Flash Deals, ahead of 17 July. Details here

Free child tickets to ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’

During August, a child aged 16 or under can get a free ticket to We’re Going on a Bear Hunt at the Lyric Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue, when they’re accompanied by a full-paying adult.

On top of that, adults can buy up to two extra kids’ tickets at half price, with no booking or postage fees.

Get one Majestic bottle at ‘mix-six’ price

Wine app Corkscrew if offering its users the chance to get Majestic Wine’s ‘mix-six’ price on single bottles.

The price – which promises a minimum 10% discount – is usually reserved for those buying a minimum of six bottles.

To get the offer you’ll need to download the Corkscrew app and the open it in a Majestic store. A pop-up voucher will appear on the screen and you’ll need to show it at the till to get the special ‘mix-six’ price.

Budget supermarket Lidl is offering a range of budget DIY tools from Sunday 15 July. The chain says the deals will be available ‘while stocks last’.

Products include weed burners and soldering guns plus a selection of tool kits.

Tip of the week

Check now to see if you were mis-sold payment protection insurance as the deadline to do so is just a year away, warns money-saving expert Martin Lewis.

He says: “Anyone who’s ever had a loan, mortgage, credit/store card, overdraft or catalogue debt should check now if this systemically mis-sold insurance was added.

“£30bn’s already been repaid, and the Aug ’19 deadline to claim is just a year away – queues will build as we near then.”
