Friends star Courteney Cox is set to return to TV for a brand new series that has been picked up by Starz.
Shining Vale is a horror-comedy, with the first season consisting of eight half-hour episodes in which Cox plays the role of Patricia Phelps.
Starz has now released a first-look image of Cox and other cast members, which shows the actress in character standing alongside her new on-screen family – you can take a look lower down the article.
The new series is created by Jeff Astrof and Sharon Horgan – Shining Vale is all about a dysfunctional family who swap busy city life for a small town. In their new home, a number of bad things took place in the past, and no one notices except for Pat.
Cox's role is a reformed character as she used to live wildly and without consequence. She became famous for writing a women's empowerment book about her experiences, and now thinks that she is either depressed on possessed.
The family changed their way of life in an attempt to save the marriage of Pat and her husband Terry (played by Greg Kinnear). There is a strain on their relationship because Pat cheated on Terry with a younger handyman. Pat will be forced to confront her demons when she moves into this new place.
In a statement, Christina Davis, Starz president of original programming said: "Shining Vale is a smart, chilling and funny series that tells the story of a family in turmoil who is suddenly living with a paranormal who helps Courteney Cox’s character get her groove back as she starts to question her own sanity.
"This group of talented actors, executive producers and director blends comedy and horror brilliantly throughout this series which exemplifies the network’s commitment to improve female representation on and off the screen."
Shining Vale will air on STARZ in the US and will stream on Starzplay internationally.
