Frozen Fruit Roll-Ups are TikTok’s latest snack craze: 'My teeth say no, but my heart says yes'

Frozen Fruit Roll-Ups are the latest snack craze taking over TikTok!

TikTok’s latest culinary experiment is unleashing a wave of nostalgia among millennials and zoomers alike.

As demonstrated by TikToker Janelle Rohner (@janellerohner), the process for making the retro treat simply involves unrolling the Fruit Roll-Ups and popping them in the freezer for a few hours. The finished product is an assortment of colorful Fruit Roll-Up sheets that pack a satisfying crunch.

Seemingly, this recipe pre-dates TikTok. As one viewer commented, “I grew up in Canada, and this would happen to my Fruit Roll-Ups at recess in the winter. No freezer needed!”

Taking it to the next level

Other TikTokers have been taking the food trend a step further by involving other sweets and techniques.

TikToker Trinh Carreon (@trinhdoesthings) recently shared her recipe for a frozen Fruit Roll-Up taco. She begins by unwrapping two Fruit Roll-Ups and layering them on top of each other. Next, Carreon uses a cookie cutter to cut a circle out of the Fruit Roll-Ups. Then she places it in a homemade taco stand to mold it into a taco shell.

Carreon then grabs a carton of rainbow sherbet and plops three small scoops in the Fruit Roll-Up taco shell before freezing. Once the dessert taco is out of the freezer, she tops it with chamoy sauce, Tajín seasoning and Nerds candy.

“My teeth say no, but my heart says yes” seemed to be the general consensus among viewers regarding Carreon’s recipe.

Other TikTokers such as Ashley (@ashyizzle) have approached the food trend from a more experimental perspective. In a two-part video, Ashley unfurls and stacks 50 Fruit Roll-Ups on top of each other and then attempts to eat the frozen 50-layer Fruit Roll-Up pile.

“Just the sound by itself makes my teeth hurt,” wrote one viewer in response.

Considering the many different iterations, the possibilities for new recipes that Fruit Roll-Ups can unwrap are endless.
