Fulham room advertised to rent online for £575... but bed hangs from ceiling by chains

A room has been advertised to rent in one of London's wealthiest boroughs… but the bed is hanging from the ceiling by chains.

For £575 Londoners have been offered the chance to rent a bedroom in the heart of Fulham, although it comes with a catch.

Photographs of the pad posted on website Spare Room shows the bedroom appearing to be so tiny that the bed is forced to be suspended from the ceiling.

Chains hold up the double bed in mid-air while a chest of drawers is tucked cosily underneath.

A mirror is positioned on the wall and there is a little bedside shelf. A pipe can also be seen running along the wall near the top-end of the bed.

But it is unclear how the renter is meant to get tucked into bed with no ladder in sight.

One perk of the room, located on Prothero Road around 15 minutes away from Fulham Broadway and West Brompton Tube stations, is that it comes with its own private bathroom, the listing reads.

Whoever takes the room will expect to live in the houseshare with five other people all aged between 16 and 26.

Couples, smoking and pets are all allowed, the listing reads. The maximum age welcomed to apply for the room is 65.

The advertiser was unable to be contacted, with a message on Spare Room reading they were no longer accepting rental applications.

Fulham houses some of London's most expensive postcodes and is known for being a prosperous area.

Last year it was revealed property buyers in the area of Hammersmith and Fulham can expect to shell out an average of more than £8,000 per square metre of floorspace - the fourth expensive borough in London.
