Chelsea will be boosted by an almost full-strength squad when they make the short trip to west London rivals Fulham on Saturday.

Only N’Golo Kante is absent for Frank Lampard’s side, who will be grateful to see the returns of Hakim Ziyech and Reece James from injury. The Blues did somewhat alleviate the sense of gloom at the club last time out with a comfortable FA Cup victory over Morecambe, however, pressure had begun to pile on the manager prior to then. A dismal defeat by Arsenal on Boxing day was followed by a draw with Aston Villa and another defeat by Man City in the Premier League, leaving Chelsea languishing in ninth entering the weekend.

The Cottagers, meanwhile, have enjoyed a significant uplift in fortune, with a run of five successive draws lifting them to within reach of safety. Scott Parker’s side are now just two points adrift of Brighton and boast two games in hand over the Seagulls due to the coronavirus outbreak at Motspur Park.

History will be firmly on Chelsea’s side, though, when the action kicks off at Craven Cottage, with the Blues unbeaten in their last 18 top flight games against their neighbours.
