Hundreds braved the winds and rain at the weekend to watch the Christmas light turn on in Weymouth.
Gathering in New Bond Street on November 26 for the grand ceremony, switching on Weymouth’s lights for the festive season, many were dressed as elves in an attempt to break a world record.

At 5:12 in the evening, three minutes earlier than originally scheduled, the crowd joined in with the countdown in anticipation of the big switch-on.
After the ten-to-one countdown, the plunger was pressed, and festive-themed illuminations lit up the square and the surrounding streets.
The enormous Christmas tree next to the White Hart Tavern proved to be a spectacle with lights wrapped around it from top to bottom, while Pete the Elf also glowed and proved popular among many who attended.
