Yahoo Finance General Motors Is Recalling 14,901 Full-Size SUVs for Fuel Pump Fix
General Motors is recalling 14,901 full-size SUVs to fix a fuel-pump issue.
Included are 2021 models of the Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, GMC Yukon and Yukon XL, and Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe.
Vehicles that were manufactured between April 15, 2020, and August 24, 2021, may be affected and will be repaired by GM dealerships free of charge.
General Motors has announced the recall of 14,901 full-size SUVs over an issue with fuel pumps that were built with faulty power control modules. Vehicles with this problem may experience potential stalling of the engine. The vehicles impacted by this recall are the Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, the Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe, and the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL.
GM began investigating this matter in July by reviewing warranty data related to fuel-pump replacements in 2021 model SUVs built between April 2020 and August 2021. GM reported to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that there were 617 relevant complaints from SUV owners, of which 229 said their vehicle had stalled while it was standing or moving. There were no reports of accidents or injuries because of the issue.
Owners of 2021 models of these GM SUVs can check NHTSA's recalls website for more details and to determine whether their vehicle is affected. If so, they should contact their dealerships to schedule recall service. GM dealerships will be replacing the power control modules in the fuel pump at no charge.
