Yahoo Finance George Michael's family send heartfelt message to fans ahead of third anniversary
George Michael’s family have released a Christmas message to his fans, saying their support is a comfort during the hard times and urging them to keep doing good deeds in his memory.
The Last Christmas singer died three years ago on Christmas Day and his loved ones marked the sad anniversary with a heartfelt message on his official website.

Michael’s sisters Melanie and Yioda, his father Jack and his manager of many years David Austin shared their feelings on the past year, including thanking fans for their support of the Last Christmas film that Michael had given his blessing to before his death, but admitted that 2019 had been tough.
The message read: “We know how much his lyrics can offer support when things are tough and help celebrate when times are good and life is going well… and that is just as powerful now as if he were still with us and as many of you say in your messages, it’s a gift.”
They added: “We will be swerving the bad and enjoying the good as much as we can this coming year (2019 has been difficult and busy for George’s hardworking team).
“We are, as usual, staying as positive as possible, which is what we and Yog would wish for you all, and we are all hoping for a peaceful 2020.
“We’ll close by saying, don’t forget to say your ‘I Love You’s’ and enjoy your celebrations wherever you are. Thank you so much for your kind messages, they lift us when things are tough.
“Keep on doing those good deeds in his memory, ‘paying it forward’ if you can.”

After Michael’s death, many stories of his secret generosity emerged, including Lynette Gillard who told how the superstar had paid for her fertility treatment.
She had been through nine failed rounds of IVF and had taken part in TV gameshow Deal or No Deal in desperation to fund more treatments, but when Michael saw the episode he called producers and offered to donate £9,000 to her on the condition that he remained anonymous.
Gillard, who went on to finally welcome her baby son, only learned who the generous donor was after Michael died.
