Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding has spoken about her cancer treatment for the first time since she confirmed her diagnosis in August.

Sarah shared a photo of herself in hospital over the summer and announced the sad news that she was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year. She confirmed the cancer has advanced to other parts of her body.

The former Celebrity Big Brother star has since been receiving treatment and returned to Instagram today (December 3) to thank her followers for their support, saying that things have been "tough" for her recently but that she continues to fight.

"Everyone has been so kind and reading your comments and DMs has been such a huge source of strength to me.

"I can't deny that things are tough right now but I'm fighting as hard as I possibly can and being as brave as I know how."

Harding also revealed the news that she has been working on an autobiography in the past few months, which is due for release after Christmas.

Hear Me Out is almost complete and will chart the singer's life from her childhood through to finding fame on reality show Popstars: The Rivals in 2002, as well as her time as part of girl group Girls Aloud alongside Cheryl Cole, Nicola Roberts, Nadine Coyle and Kimberley Walsh.

"In September the lovely people at Ebury Publishing asked me if I would be interested in writing a book about my life story," Harding wrote. "It came at such a good time for me as it's given me something fun and positive to focus on while I've been stuck at home in between trips to the hospital for treatment.

"I've nearly finished it now and this week Mum and I have been looking [through] old photos choosing which ones to include. It'll be out after Christmas and I'm really proud of it. I hope you'll like it."

The singer's post was accompanied by a photo of herself as a child and a picture of her book's front cover and was met with many messages of love and support.

Singer and actor Duncan James sent her a string of heart emojis, while singer Natalie Appleton commented: "We're all sending you so much love beautiful one."
