The monster epic Godzilla vs Kong has just been given an action-packed new trailer.

Kyle Chandler, Alexander Skarsgard, Julian Dennison and Millie Bobby Brown are set to star in the forthcoming film about the battle between two famous monsters.

The newly released trailer – which debuted on Sunday (24 January) – opens on a scene depicting a city in the midst of a disaster, presumably at the hands of Godzilla. King Kong is proposed as the only solution to the mayhem.

The gigantic gorilla is seen sedated while being transported on a military ship as Skarsgard’s character, geologist Nathan Lind, says: “This is our only chance. We have to take it.”

Godzilla’s attack may not be as straight-forward as initially believed, however, with questions about the lizard’s motives called into question as the trailer progresses.

Godzilla v Kong, which sees the two prehistoric animals clash in a violent battle, follows the events of Kong: Skull Island (2017) and Godzilla: King of Monsters (2019).

The film has a scheduled release date of 26 March after it was originally slated for a May 2020 release.

It is set for a simultaneous theatrical and home debut on the HBO Max streaming service.
