There’s going to be a Tinder for those who are heartbroken about Brexit

"We found love in a hopeless place."
"We found love in a hopeless place."

Britain’s historic vote to leave the European Union has left the country divided.

Those who want to remain within the EU, the so-called 48%, are in disbelief. Many are signing petitions to call for a second EU referendum—one on the official parliamentary website got more than 103,000 signatures before the site crashed. Next week, thousands of people plan to march to Westminster to “prevent Brexit.”

The likelihood of finding a way out of undoing Brexit remains slim. As John Oliver so eloquently put it: “There are no fucking do-overs.”

But those who want to remain don’t have to despair alone. There’s a dating app coming—called Remainder—that allows people to meet and date fellow heartbroken “remainers.”

The app was created by “two ordinary voters” who wanted to help facilitate drinks with people who find themselves on the same side of the argument. “We created it because all the Remain voters we know seemed so depressed,” they told London’s Metro newspaper. “Our Facebook feeds had turned into a neverending funeral service. We thought the best way of recovering must be to go out for a few drinks with someone who’s in the same boat.”

With the first version of the app done, the creators have launched a crowdfunding page to further develop the app and launch it as soon as possible.
