Google is ‘actively investigating’ a potentially significant screen problem in its latest smartphone, weeks before its official launch.

The Pixel 2 XL handset has been sent out to technology journalists ahead of its high street release, but early users are reportedly experiencing issues with screen burn-in.

A Google spokesperson told the Evening Standard: "We put all of our products through extensive quality testing before launch and in the manufacturing of every unit. We are actively investigating this report."

According to some who have already got their hands on Google’s highly-anticipated new phone, the bottom of the OLED display is seeing burn-in occur, particularly with the navigation icons.
