Gordon Ramsay is selling a burger for £80 at his new restaurant in London.

The celebrity chef will open his eponymous restaurant, Gordon Ramsay Burger, in Harrods on 4 December, just after the nationwide lockdown lifts.

The £80 item is an indulgent wagyu burger that comprises a beef patty with seared wagyu sirloin, truffle Pecorino cheese, cep mayonnaise, and additional black truffle.

Other high-price items on the menu include a £42 lobster and shrimp burger, which combines lobster and rock shrimp in a patty that is topped with pickled vegetables, aioli, and frisée.

Meanwhile, hotdogs cost £21 and a side order of chips will set you back £6.

Ramsay already has a Gordon Ramsay Burger restaurant located at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.

“Gordon Ramsay Burger at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, focuses on traditional burgers, fries and milkshakes, with an extra special touch,” reads the restaurant description on its website.

“The gourmet beef patties are cooked over an open flame using prime cuts of meat. The milkshakes combine traditional shake ingredients with creamy pudding for an indulgent dessert experience and the drinks menu features an extensive selection of cocktails as well as craft and bottled beers.”

However, the prices are significantly lower at the Las Vegas establishment, with the highest-priced burger coming in at $25.99 (£19).

Discussing the new restaurant opening in London, Ramsay said: “I'm really excited to announce, I'm bringing the Gordon Ramsay Burger to Harrods in Knightsbridge for the first time ever.

“Trust me, this is going to be a burger experience like no other as we've really elevated our patties using the most incredible mix of the UK's best cuts of meat.”

People have complained on Twitter that the £80 price tag is far too high for a burger, with many labelling it “ridiculous” and “absurd”.

It’s not the first time that Ramsay has made headlines for the price tags at his restaurants.

In October, the 54-year-old chef was mocked online for selling fish and chips for £18.50 at his namesake restaurant in London House.

“Gordon Ramsay’s £18.50 take away fish and chips: I’ve seen more chips in a seagull’s mouth,” tweeted one person in reference to the portion size.

Another added: “Rather go to my local chippy for that much can feed the whole family & still have few quid spare.”
