Had insiders known Venture Life Group plc (LON:VLG) would hit UK£43m they might have invested more last year

Venture Life Group plc (LON:VLG) insiders who purchased shares in the last 12 months were richly rewarded last week. The stock climbed by 19% resulting in a UK£7.0m addition to the company’s market value. As a result, their original purchase of UK£391k worth of stock is now worth UK£396k.

While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Venture Life Group

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when Non-Executive Chair Paul McGreevy bought UK£97k worth of shares at a price of UK£0.35 per share. That means that an insider was happy to buy shares at above the current price of UK£0.34. It's very possible they regret the purchase, but it's more likely they are bullish about the company. We always take careful note of the price insiders pay when purchasing shares. It is generally more encouraging if they paid above the current price, as it suggests they saw value, even at higher levels.

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders.
