This hairstylist infuses creativity into her haircuts: 'If something makes you unique ... you should flaunt it'

Kerry Chuang always hated the haircuts she got growing up, so she took matters into her own hands by going to beauty school and getting a styling license.

Now, Chuang is the mastermind behind some of the creative looks and cuts that are taking over Instagram and Los Angeles.

Enter here for a chance to win a $500 Winky Lux prize package.

“If something makes you unique, I feel like you should flaunt it,” the 25-year-old told In The Know.

After building her way up the stylist ladder at salons, Chuang finally reached the point where she could start taking on her own clients. But that doesn’t mean she’s finished learning from others. In fact, she credits the collaborative environment of big salons for giving her confidence to experiment with new looks.

“I need variety in my life,” Chuang said.

Hairstyling is Chuang’s “forever career.” Her dream is to eventually open her own salon.

“I think the ability to change someone’s own perception of themselves — it makes me feel really happy and, almost like, honored,” she said. “I love when they say, ‘This is exactly what I wanted, you got it!’ That makes me feel great.”
