Half of Britons fear Theresa May has no Brexit plan - Sky poll

Half of Britons think Theresa May has no clear plan for what Brexit should mean for Britain, a Sky Data poll has revealed.

Some 49% of respondents said they feared Mrs May has no plan, while 34% said they think she does.

Most, however, said they believe in the Prime Minister's ability to negotiate a good deal on Britain's future outside the European Union.

Some 46% answered that they trust her to strike the best possible deal with the EU, compared to 39% who said they do not.

Trust in the Prime Minister is highest among older voters, with over 55s much more likely to have faith in her.

The results coincided with the PM's debut at a European Union summit, where she objected to attempts to sideline the UK in meetings to decide post-Brexit policy, Sky News understands.

She said the UK would refuse to "rubber-stamp" decisions made during meetings of the remaining 27 European Union nations - a reference to an "informal" summit held in Bratislava in September, the first without Britain for 43 years.

Her words reflect concerns the UK is being sidelined even before Brexit takes place.

EU Council president Donald Tusk told Mrs May at the summit table that this was "all a result of the UK (Brexit vote) and that the EU 27 will have to keep meeting".
