As someone who hates to cook, but loves food, if I’m not plating up takeout in the kitchen, you can bet that I’m making the easiest thing I find in my pantry.

Believe me, I wish I loved to cook. I want to dive into that new cookbook every month or buy that buzzy kitchen gadget everyone is buying, but that’s just not me. Still, there are a few items that I reach for constantly in my (under-utilized) kitchen that are, IMO, total essentials.

1. Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Signature Paring Knife, $24.95 (Orig. $31.50)

While I wouldn’t say I slice and dice regularly, having a great knife at your disposal, no matter your cooking level, is pretty crucial. I use mine to quickly cut up lemons and limes for drinks as well as mince garlic for a simple pasta sauce.

2. Sencor 2-Liter Cordless Glass Electric Kettle, $49.99

This electric kettle gets water boiling twice as fast as a stovetop. When I’m in the mood for a cup of tea, there is hardly any wait time. I’m also not above pouring the boiling water on top of Instant Ramen when I don’t want to pull out a pot.

3. Avocado Huggers, Set of 2, $8

I love avocado and will make guacamole or avocado toast pretty regularly. For the times that I don’t end up using an entire avocado, these silicone covers are great for keeping the other half fresh until I eat it.
