Have your say: Do you agree with schools reopening in England on 8 March?

Schools in England will reopen on 8 March, Boris Johnson is expected to announce later on Monday.

The prime minister is scheduled to lay out his plan for taking the country out of lockdown to MPs before leading a news briefing at 7pm.

It has been reported that all schools in England will reopen from 8 March, when outdoor recreation with one other person will also be permitted, meaning people could sit down together in a park for a coffee, drink or picnic.

The next phase of the government’s plan would see outdoor gatherings of either six people or two households, including in private gardens, permitted from 29 March.

Organised outdoor sport for adults and children could also return from that date.

At the beginning of this month, Johnson had said that schools in England would only reopen on 8 March at the earliest.

As late as last week, he said the government still hadn’t decided on its lockdown easing plans.

Last month, he had vowed that lockdown restrictions would stay in place until at least 8 March.
