Hawks unveil three new uniforms with cleaner, more vintage touch

The Atlanta Hawks will have new vintage-looking threads for the 2020-21 season that combine their origins and their plans for the future.

The franchise unveiled the three new sets on Tuesday morning that consist of their Association, Icon and Statement looks through Nike.

From the team:

“As we enter the next era of Hawks basketball, we are returning to our roots. We are paying respect to our treasured past, with our sights focused on a bright future ahead. We are freshening our look while paying homage to the colors most synonymous with the Hawks organization.

“Taking the most beloved details of our past uniforms to create a look that blends past, present and future. Our new style is timeless and classic, reintroducing elements true Hawks fans have come to know and love as we enter a new golden era in pursuit of a championship.”

The first is the Association jersey, a “crisp and clean” look with the icon Atlanta logo and the new secondary logo on the side of the shorts.

The Icon jerseys are mostly the same, only in the “torch red” color that has characterized the Hawks since 1968. “This primary color symbolizes the heart of our unending quest for excellence, our red-hot spirt and fiery passion for the game,” per the release.

And the Statement jerseys are all black with the thick legacy yellow line down the sides rather than red or white. It “shouts audaciousness” and is “unapologetically bold,” the team said, with the new “A-T-L” secondary logo on the front of the waistband.

The Michael Jordan brand Jumpman logo is on the Statement jerseys in place of the Nike Swoosh at the shoulder. All NBA Statement edition jerseys, which are meant for big games and rivalries, will have the mark.

All three Hawks jerseys will feature the Sharecare patch on the left side of the chest. The team has partnered with Sharecare, an Atlanta-based health and wellness platform, since 2017. The partnership is a “joint initiative to make Georgia one of the healthiest states and Atlanta one of the healthiest cities in the country.”

Jason Collins and Trae Young are early fans of the new threads.

The team previously wore uniforms featuring a triangle pattern as the main fabric. The new look is overall cleaner and in line with its G League affiliate and NBA 2K team, a key part of branding for the organization.
