Hazrat Wali death: Boy, 16, charged with murder after teenager fatally stabbed on playing field in Twickenham

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with murder after a teenage student was fatally stabbed on a playing field in Twickenham, southwest London.

The Metropolitan Police said the suspect was charged on Friday and will appear at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on Saturday.

Hazrat Wali, 18, of Notting Hill, west London, died in hospital on Tuesday having been attacked in Craneford Way.

Mr Wali was reportedly an Afghan refugee who arrived in the UK two years ago, according to the Evening Standard.

He was attacked around 4.45pm on Tuesday and died in hospital roughly an hour later.

Richmond upon Thames College, which is located next to the scene, confirmed that Mr Wali was one of their students.
