Yahoo Finance Healthcare firm Cera to create 5,000 new UK jobs
British healthcare firm Cera has announced plans to create 5,000 new jobs in the UK.
The company, which was established less than five years ago, said the majority of the new roles will be in healthcare services such as professional carers and nurses.
However, it will also look at hiring professionals in roles across operations, technology, finance and data, in a bid to bolster growth.
The digital-first healthcare-at-home provider said it had reached its initial target of filling 10,000 jobs by the end of the year ahead of schedule.
It is also offering a £500 ($674) joining bonus to help encourage professional carers to join, applicable to employees who have come on board since late August.

“At the start of the pandemic, we set out to solve two of the most pressing issues facing the UK," Dr Ben Maruthappu, Cera co-founder and chief executive, said.
"Firstly, we wanted to reduce pressures placed on the NHS due to the pandemic by bringing more talent into the care sector and, secondly, we wanted to offer jobs to thousands of people to help counter the unemployment crisis, allowing them to retrain and gain fulfilling careers in healthcare."
He added: “We’re enormously proud of the role we’ve been able to play thus far. However, this is just the beginning."

Cera is one of the fastest-growing HealthTech companies in Europe, and has delivered more than 10 million home healthcare visits to older and vulnerable people since the start of the health crisis.
On a daily basis, Cera responds to more than 5,000 high risk alerts for patients, delivering healthcare services equivalent in scale to 20 NHS hospitals, protecting beds and vital public healthcare resources.
