Hedge fund
A professionally managed fund with the ability to invest in all forms of securities with very high minimum investment requirements. These are generally the preserve of high net worth individuals and institutional investors. In many jurisdictions these are governed by different rules to mutual funds and so they can employ more aggressive strategies such as short selling stocks, using significant leverage through borrowing and investing in derivatives such as futures and options.
