Yahoo Finance Heston Blumenthal has created a giant chocolate penny for Christmas
As we all know, chocolate coins are a classic Christmas treat and a secret Santa favourite often found at the bottom of a stocking or hanging off the Christmas tree.
This season, Heston Blumenthal, has created the most spectacular looking chocolate coin for Christmas and it sounds like we'll be celebrating BIG this year because it is HUGE!
The Giant Cracking Penny is a shimmering bronze chocolate shell surrounding a rich chocolate mousse with hazelnut ganache, on a chocolate and hazelnut base. The penny is printed with 'Seasons Tweetings' along with an outline of a giant bird wearing a fancy top hat. Sounds like a chocolate lover's dream!
Heston said he loved the snap and bite of chocolate straight from the fridge and the soft, smooth feel of melting chocolate.
Reminiscent of his Christmases as a child, Heston said: “Growing up, I remember hoping to find the lucky penny at the bottom of my stocking or the sixpence in the Christmas pudding, and we’d always have bags of chocolate coins hanging from the tree. These were the inspirations for the Giant Cracking Penny." And we're sure it's an experience many can relate to.
Also in the line up for Christmas at Waitrose is Heston's Espresso Martini Chocolate Torte. It is a coffee and chocolate mousse, layered with salted caramel chocolate ganache and espresso martini-soaked chocolate sponge on a crisp wafer biscuit base. This rich and indulgent sounding dessert serves 10 people and will be available from Waitrose Entertainment for £12.
