High street bank branch closed due to 'unforeseen circumstances'

A high street bank branch has been forced to close due to a power cut.

HSBC on North Street in Brighton is currently shut with a sign on doors and in windows explaining that the store was closed due to “unforeseen circumstances”.

The bank branch apologised for inconvenience caused to its customers on the sign. The branch say that the branch will re-open later today.

Lights inside the branch were turned off with the large wooden doors to the building shut to the public.

A sign in the window and on the door of the building said: “Due to unforeseen circumstances (power cut) the branch will not be opening. Sorry for any inconvenience caused!”

The closure comes after a number of businesses were affected in recent weeks due to power cuts in Burgess Hill and Haywards Heath.

A spokesman for HSBC said: “We are hoping the branch will be back open within the next hour.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
