Hilary Duff Reveals There’s Still Hope for the ‘Lizzie McGuire’ Reboot
Hilary Duff is still in talks with Disney about that Disney+ Lizzie McGuire reboot.
The show’s creator, Terri Minsky, reportedly had a virtual meeting with the reboot’s writers.
Production of the Disney+ show shut down in January.
Before 2020 took a turn for the worse and absolutely effed up everyone’s lives, Disney+ shutting down the Lizzie McGuire reboot was the talk of so many group chats. Due to creative differences (Disney wanted to make it too PG for reality), the show’s creator, Terri Minsky, quit and production immediately halted. Now, after months of pleas to move the reboot to Hulu, Hilary Duff revealed that she’s still in talks about the show and that Minsky met virtually with the writers.
Over the weekend, Lizzie McGuire fan account @PeterStansLizzie shared a screenshot from a virtual meeting featuring Minsky and other writers from the reboot. This is huge news, considering Minsky reportedly didn’t like the direction the show was heading. It’s not clear what they were discussing, but it seems to be a good sign.

On top of that, Hilary spoke with People magazine about her continued involvement after she asked Disney to rethink its prudish plotlines. She told the outlet, “There’s still conversations going on in hopes that we can find a way to meet in the middle and both bend a little bit.”
Hilary added that she understands Disney has to “protect their brand,” but she has to think about how she envisioned playing Lizzie as an adult. She explained, “I just have to make sure it’s the right move for me and that I feel like I’m honoring her and the character and that it will be relatable to the people who grew up with her because those are the people I really want to speak to.”
If Disney doesn’t budge, we’re all petitioning to get live readings of the reboot via Zoom meetings, right?
