Hollyoaks' Cleo and Toby plan revenge against abuser Pete

The following article contains discussion of themes including eating disorders that some readers may find upsetting.

Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Cleo McQueen and Toby Faroe are planning to take revenge against abuser Pete Buchanan in Hollyoaks.

Toby has been up-in-arms ever since he discovered earlier in the week that Pete was grooming another young girl who he'd been pretending was his stepdaughter.

In Thursday's (June 24) first-look episode, Cleo was desperate to prevent Toby from taking action outside the law against Pete.

"You're one of the good guys, but the best thing you can do is just leave it to the police to manage," Cleo assured him.

However, Cleo was dealing with far more stress than she was letting on, as she had a hallucination that Ste and Leah were actually Pete and the young girl he'd been abusing.

"Get away from her," Cleo screamed before Misbah intervened and encouraged her to take the day off.

She was tipped over the edge when Toby delivered the news that the police couldn't pursue any charges against Pete because they didn't have any actual evidence he was grooming again.

There were the early signs that she was struggling with her eating disorder once again as well, as visions of Pete haunted her during lunch with Toby.

Cleo left abruptly, to try to process what she was feeling, but ended up purging in an alleyway. The news Pete remained free pushed her to the extreme when she caught up with Toby.

"If the police aren't going to do anything about it, I will," she angrily insisted. "Look, I need to make sure he could never hurt anyone ever again. I need to get rid of him for good!

"I have to do this, Toby!"

"No, we have to do this," Toby interrupted. "You're not alone, Cleo."

Hollyoaks currently airs new episodes from Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
