Hollyoaks' Diane makes exit to get help with OCD

Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Diane Hutchinson has departed Hollyoaks, for now, to get help with her OCD.

Monday's first-look episode picked up with Diane running away from The Dog, following the McQueens cutting the power as one last prank to get one over on Tony.

Tony and Becky tried to find her, but Diane ordered her husband to stay away. It was ultimately Becky who convinced Diane she needed to get away for the help she needed.

Diane broke the news to Tony that she was taking baby Eva away at least until she was feeling strong enough to come home, in order for Tony to focus on making the pub a success.

"I'm going to chase up my GP about my therapy and I'll focus on getting back to my old self, then I can come home and I can be the mum and wife that I used to be," she explained.

"Please tell me you understand and that you don't think I'm some coward that runs out on her husband and the kids?"

Tony assured his wife she's "one of the strongest people" he knows, with Diane replying: "Well, I will be. I swear to you, when I come back, it will be like the old days. You, me and our amazing family.

"We are going to get that back."

The closing scenes of the episode saw Diane getting into a cab to leave as she apologised to Tony for leaving during the grand re-opening of The Dog.

When Becky volunteered to help Tony run the pub in her absence, Diane and her husband were all too willing to accept the extra help.

"I'm going to feel so much better knowing he's with you every day," Diane said.

Becky promised with a grin: "Don't you worry, I'll make sure he's got everything he needs."

Upcoming episodes will feature some complications when others get the wrong impression about Tony and Becky's relationship.

Hollyoaks airs new episodes from Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first-look screenings at 7pm on E4. Selected omnibus episodes are available via Amazon Prime Video.
