Hollyoaks fans surprised to spot Greg Wood in Hollyoaks Favourites episode

From Digital Spy

The following article contains discussion of rape and sexual misconduct that some readers may find upsetting.

Hollyoaks fans spotted a familiar face in Hollyoaks Favourites last night (July 15) as Greg Wood was seen in a big episode from 2000.

Greg is best known to Hollyoaks viewers for playing gangster Trevor Royle between 2013 and 2016, but this wasn't the first time that he'd appeared on the show.

In 2000, Greg – then credited as Greg Milburn – portrayed the guest role of Kenneth Boyd.

Kenneth was a friend of Mark Gibbs and was present when the evil villain raped Luke Morgan in late-night episode Breaking Boundaries.

This week, Hollyoaks Favourites has taken fans back to another key moment in this storyline, as Mark stood trial for his crime.

In last night's edition, Kenneth featured in the background of the court scenes and was quickly spotted by eagle-eyed fans.

While many Hollyoaks viewers were already aware of Greg's previous role in the show, others were confused and questioned whether this was a younger version of popular bad boy Trevor.

Hollyoaks Favourites will continue airing the trial storyline over the rest of this week – and there's more to come from Kenneth.

Tonight's (July 16) episode will see Kenneth give evidence in court over his role in what happened that night.

Introducing tonight's episode, Stephanie Waring – who plays Cindy Cunningham – acknowledges Greg's surprise return to screens.

She says: "Luke's legal battle rages as the events of the night he was sexually assaulted are recounted. Last to take the stand is one of his attackers, Kenneth Boyd, who looks strangely familiar…"

Greg's later role as Trevor saw him take centre stage as a Hollyoaks regular, but the character was killed off in 2016 when he decided to leave the Channel 4 soap.

Meanwhile, Mark Gibbs returned to screens in 2017 when show bosses decided to revisit Luke's storyline 17 years on.

Hollyoaks Favourites continues tonight at 7pm on E4.
