Hollyoaks' John Paul McQueen turns back to ex-husband Ste Hay as abuse story continues

Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks has confirmed that John Paul McQueen is set to reconnect with ex-husband Ste Hay in upcoming scenes, as the soap's coercive control plot continues.

In next week's episodes, John Paul (James Sutton) decides to look at a house with his boyfriend George Kiss (Callum Kerr), ignoring Sally's (Annie Wallace) warnings about his partner.

While George is smug over his victory, Sally shares her concerns with Theresa (Jorgie Porter) and asks for her help.

Meanwhile, James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan) is left feeling frustrated when he hears that his on-off love interest Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) has accepted an offer on his house without consulting him.

Feeling like James doesn't treat him as an equal, Ste determines to fix his own problems.

When James and Ste later bump into John Paul and George, Ste's feelings of inequality are reaffirmed when James implies that a cleaner and a lawyer aren't a good match.

After the run-in with John Paul's exes, George rages with jealousy and the couple end up arguing. Later, John Paul is left drinking along on the city walls, where he reunites with Ste.

The next morning, John Paul wakes up on Ste's couch, but he's relieved to find out that nothing happened between the two of them.

Later, he lies to a furious George, explaining that he stayed at a hotel the night before. It doesn't take long for George to discover that John Paul is lying, however, and they get into another big fight.

Later in the week, John Paul is left devastated by some unexpected news, leaving him distraught. As his family rallies around him, there's a very surprising turn of events.

Then, in an episode that puts John Paul at the centre, he finally faces the truth about his situation.

After being caught in a compromising situation, he's also forced to explain himself.

Hollyoaks airs these scenes in the week commencing Monday, April 19 at 6.30pm on Channel 4. First-look episodes air weekdays at 7pm on E4.

Organisations including The Mankind Initiative (www.mankind.org.uk) provide support and advice to male victims and survivors of domestic abuse, domestic violence and coercive control. Its confidential helpline, open weekdays between 10am and 4pm, is 01823 334244.
