Hollyoaks spoilers follow.
George's fiancé John Paul McQueen (James Sutton) was arrested for his murder and is the prime suspect for the police. With inconclusive evidence, John Paul gets released and the story begins to unravel.
Speaking to Inside Soap, Sutton said that "it's a really exciting week of episodes". The actor also explained how John Paul is feeling before he gets released from prison, adding that he's in a dark place because of everything that he's been through.
"A few of the fans think John Paul could have done it, but most of them don't believe he is capable of murder – mainly because of how upset he was over George's death, and how his story hasn't changed at all," Sutton explained.
"There's a really strong ending with the big reveal, and I can't wait for the viewers to find out the truth!"
Although some viewers think that John Paul is innocent, not everyone else agrees – his lawyer and ex-partner James thinks that John Paul killed George and recommends that he plead guilty for a shorter jail sentence.
Sutton said: "Talk about kicking a guy when he's down! John Paul thinks that he can rely on James, 100%. So for James not to believe him, and not do everything he can to get him out of prison, is really upsetting.
"Not only is John Paul dealing with his fiancé being murdered, but he's also trying to come to terms with the domestic abuse he suffered. He's still in love with George, so it's a really difficult and dark place he finds himself in."
When the killer is revealed, it will air as a series of flashbacks, recalling what happened on the night of George's death.
"I think a lot of people will be quite shocked, but I hope they will be happy. Hopefully people will be cheering, and pleased with the outcome. There are some really nice moments coming up – and a few more twists," Sutton added.
Hollyoaks currently airs new episodes from Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
