Hollywood Stars Pose For New Pirelli Calendar

Kate Winslet, Dame Helen Mirren and Nicole Kidman are among a number of A-list actresses who will feature in the 2017 Pirelli Calendar, it has been revealed.

This year's edition of the calendar hit the headlines when it was announced that nude models would be replaced with "women of achievement", including Serena Williams, Patti Smith and Yoko Ono.

The 2017 Pirelli Calendar will follow suit, as some of the world's top actresses have been given star billing.

German photographer Peter Lindbergh took portraits of 15 notable women for the new edition, which also includes the likes of Uma Thurman, Julianne Moore, Penelope Cruz and House of Cards star Robin Wright.

Jessica Chastain, Zhang Ziyi and Rooney Mara round off the list with Lupita Nyong'o, Lea Seydoux, Alicia Vikander, Charlotte Rampling and entrepreneur Anastacia Ignatova.

The trade calendar, which is only given out as a corporate gift to Pirelli customers and celebrities, launched in 1963.

It was discontinued in 1974 but made a comeback in 1984.

Portraits for this year's edition were taken over four weeks in May and June.

Lindbergh captured his shots of Kidman and Ziyi in Los Angeles, while Seydoux, Winslet, Mirren and Rampling were pictured in London.

Other portraits were taken in Berlin, Le Touquet and New York.

Speaking to Vogue, Lindbergh said the images were a "love song to the women I really know and really like."

He added: "Everyone in this calendar, at one point in my life, I wanted to marry and I didn't have the balls to ask them!"

Lindbergh previously shot the 1996 Pirelli Calendar in the El Mirage Desert in California, and the 2002 edition at the Paramount Studio in Los Angeles.
