Home Alone remake in the works from Disney

Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals - it looks like 90s favourite Home Alone is getting a remake.

According to US media reports, Disney chief executive Bob Iger has said it will be one of four reboots for the company's new streaming service.

The 1990 original starred Macaulay Culkin as Kevin McCallister, the eight-year-old mistakenly left to defend himself and his family home from burglars Harry and Marv, aka the Wet Bandits, over the Christmas holiday period.

It is not yet clear how the film will be remade, and there are no details yet on casting.

But unsurprisingly, the news has received a huge reaction on social media, with many fans not entirely happy at the thought of messing with a classic.

Disney now owns the Home Alone franchise after buying film studio 21st Century Fox.

Night At The Museum, Diary Of A Wimpy Kid and Cheaper By The Dozen are reportedly also set for the remake treatment.

Streaming service Disney+ will launch in November in the US.

It will feature 8,000 films and TV episodes, including every Pixar film ever released, all the Star Wars films and every episode of the Simpsons.
