Before you can crown a country the richest in the world, it must first be decided what defines ‘wealth’.

There are many different ways to measure how much money a country has, including how much money it makes overall.

However, one of the most common measures is by Gross Domestic Product per person.

When looking at the list of ‘richest countries’ – using this measure –China and the U.S. don’t even top the list.

It is the much smaller countries who are the richest. But how come they have so much more money than some of the world’s biggest economies? And where does Britain fit into all of this?
