'I was attacked in Nandigram', claims Mamata Banerjee
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who filed her nomination from Nandigram today and was planning to stay another day in her constituency, has been admitted to Kolkata’s SSKM Hospital with injuries to her left leg and wrist after she was attacked in Nandigram.
The Election Commission has sought a report from the local administration on the incident after the party filed a complaint.
According to News18, Banerjee was getting into her car after interacting with some citizens in Birulia Bazar, when she was allegedly pushed by some miscreants. The car’s door rammed into her leg.

The state BJP unit was quick to respond calling the whole act as "drama" created to generate sympathy.
Is it Taliban that her convoy was attacked? Huge police force accompanies her. Who can get near her? 4 IPS officers are her security incharge & must be suspended. Attackers don't appear out of nowhere, they've to be nabbed. She did drama for sympathy: WB BJP vice-pres Arjun Singh pic.twitter.com/EnINlTRMej

Meanwhile, Congress called the event a move to gain sympathy before the polls in Bengal. âThis is 'siyasi pakhand' to gain sympathy. Before polls, she (Mamata Banerjee) planned this 'nautanki' after sensing difficulties in Nandigram. Not just CM, she is Police Mantri' too. Can you believe that there was no Police with Police Mantri?â Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury questioned.

"Such tactics to gain sympathy are unacceptable. I think the matter should be handed over to the CBI for an investigation," he added. State Congress president Adhir Chowdhury said such "tactics to gain sympathy" would not work this time.
