IED blast near Israel Embassy in Delhi; no injuries reported; India on high alert
Airports, important installations and government buildings have been put on high alert following the IED blast near the Israel Embassy, outside Jindal House, in New Delhi on Friday evening.
While there are no reports of any casualties or injuries, some cars were damaged due to the explosion.
A security alert has been issued to all airports and security has been beefed up in Delhi and other state capitals, including at the office of the Consulate General of Israel in Mumbai.
It is not yet clear if any terror organisation or an individual was behind the blast. Preliminary investigations reveal that the quality of explosive used in the blast was of low-grade and even the quantity was minimum. Authorities are collecting CCTV footage to get more details.

Authorities said that the low-intensity blast occurred at 5.05 pm. The National Investigation Agency, the bomb disposal squad of the National Security Guard and the Delhi Police Special Cell are at the blast spot to investigate the matter.
The entire area has been cordoned-off and heavy deployment of police forces has been made. A team of the Central Reserve Police Force has also been rushed to beef up security around the Israeli embassy.
Foreign minister speaks to Israeli counterpart
India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar spoke to Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi about the explosion outside the Israeli Embassy in Delhi and assured him of the fullest protection for the Embassy and Israeli diplomats.

Police said the blast occurred 150 meters away from the Israeli Embassy, about 2 kms away from Vijay Chowk, where the Beating Retreat ceremony, attended by President Kovind and Prime Minister Modi, was being held.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is monitoring the situation very closely, has already spoken with the Delhi Police Commissioner and officials of the Intelligence Bureau and sought details of the incident

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has condemned the blast. In a tweet, he said: "Concerned by the news of a blast near Israeli Embassy in Delhi. Agencies are determining the nature and cause of the blast. Thankfully, no loss of life has been reported yet. Any attempt to disturb the peace of Delhi should be firmly dealt with.”
