IFTTT Opens Partner Platform; Introduces Applets

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - November 02, 2016) - IFTTT, the platform that empowers people to do more with the services they love, is opening their partner platform and unveiling Applets -- powerful new experiences that go beyond "if this, then that" and turn on with a simple switch.

In August, IFTTT announced that their partners can embed IFTTT-functionality directly in their apps. Now, any company with an API can build with IFTTT and take that experience even further with Applets.

IFTTT launched in 2010 with Recipes: "if this, then that" statements that allowed users to connect two services together. Recipes have now evolved into Applets. Applets can do everything that Recipes could -- and much more.

Applets bring services together to create new experiences. With the flip of a switch, a user can set the scene when they arrive home, share and backup their latest photos, stay better informed, or countless other possibilities. Partners on IFTTT are able to build Applets with powerful filtering capabilities that trigger multiple actions. They can then embed them directly into their apps or website. In a fraction of the development time, they'll be able to integrate with hundreds of other services and unlock new features for their users. It's one connection that opens up countless possibilities.

"IFTTT Applets enable a future where all of our services work together. Every business is a technology company, and every tech company is rapidly becoming a service. Applets help those services integrate quickly and easily, in a way that we can all trust. We're building an internet that works for you." - Linden Tibbets, IFTTT co-founder and CEO

To complement these new capabilities, IFTTT.com has been redesigned to surface the most compelling Applets and services. They're also launching the IFTTT app, which combines the functionality of the IF and DO apps into one streamlined experience.

Now that the IFTTT partner platform has officially launched, there are plans for expansion. A new tier for individuals who want to bring creative projects to life with Applets that go beyond "if this, then that" is in development. Businesses with multiple services, apps, or other complex needs are encouraged to get in touch to discuss a custom solution.

Applets are designed to be flexible and ever-evolving, and new capabilities will be added to the IFTTT partner platform throughout 2017.
