‘Imagine there are no hairdressers’: Noel Fielding compares himself to John Lennon as barbers remain closed

Noel Fielding has compared himself to John Lennon after not being able to get a haircut for weeks because of lockdown.

The Great British Bake Off star shared a picture of himself with a ponytail and wearing round blue sunglasses.

“Imagine there are no hairdressers it isn’t hard to do x,” he wrote in the Instagram caption, referencing Lennon’s 1971 single “Imagine”.

Fielding’s post comes in the wake of Boris Johnson pencilling in 12 April as the date salons can reopen in his roadmap to ease lockdown in England.

Johnson’s announcement also included plans for all limits on social contact to be removed on 21 June.

Less than 48 hours after the roadmap was unveiled, it was announced that Reading and Leeds music festival will go ahead in August.

The twin-site event, which runs from 27 to 29 August, could attract up to 200,000 fans in total and could be an early test for how large crowds can be held against a backdrop of coronavirus.
