Police cordon off Piccadilly Gardens after double stabbing in Manchester city centre
Police and paramedics are responding to reports of a double stabbing in Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester.
Oldham Street has been cordoned off at the corner of Piccadilly Gardens next to Morrisons supermarket.
One man was rushed to hospital with non-life threatening injuries while another man received minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
According to a report from Manchester Evening News. the two men who were attacked, today around midday, were father and son.

Workers at a nearby company have been told to stay inside after the “targeted” attack.
The warning said "an individual has been the victim of stabbing. Please stay within the building until this incident is under control", the website said.

One person posted a video of the scene on Twitter, writing: “Views from my office. What’s with all the police in Manchester Piccadilly Gardens?”
Another wrote: "Huge police presence outside Morrisons on Piccadilly gardens, a couple of stretchers have been brought out of an ambulance.. hope everyone is okay down there."
Greater Manchester Police gave the following statement: “At around 12.10pm today, police were called to reports of an assault on Piccadilly, Manchester City Centre.
“Emergency services are currently in attendance.

“One man has been taken to hospital with injuries which aren’t believed to be life threatening. Another man is receiving treatment at the scene for minor injuries.
“No arrests have been made.

A number of road closures are in place and members of the public have been asked to avoid the area.
