Industry Analysts Just Made A Captivating Upgrade To Their Liquidia Corporation (NASDAQ:LQDA) Revenue Forecasts

Liquidia Corporation (NASDAQ:LQDA) shareholders will have a reason to smile today, with the analysts making substantial upgrades to this year's statutory forecasts. The consensus estimated revenue numbers rose, with their view now clearly much more bullish on the company's business prospects.

Following the upgrade, the most recent consensus for Liquidia from its six analysts is for revenues of US$17m in 2023 which, if met, would be a satisfactory 6.1% increase on its sales over the past 12 months. Losses are expected to increase slightly, to US$0.68 per share. However, before this estimates update, the consensus had been expecting revenues of US$15m and US$0.72 per share in losses. We can see there's definitely been a change in sentiment in this update, with the analysts administering a sizeable upgrade to this year's revenue estimates, while at the same time reducing their loss estimates.

Another way we can view these estimates is in the context of the bigger picture, such as how the forecasts stack up against past performance, and whether forecasts are more or less bullish relative to other companies in the industry. It's pretty clear that there is an expectation that Liquidia's revenue growth will slow down substantially, with revenues to the end of 2023 expected to display 6.1% growth on an annualised basis. This is compared to a historical growth rate of 24% over the past five years. Juxtapose this against the other companies in the industry with analyst coverage, which are forecast to grow their revenues (in aggregate) 5.1% annually. So it's pretty clear that, while Liquidia's revenue growth is expected to slow, it's expected to grow roughly in line with the industry.

The Bottom Line

The highlight for us was that the consensus reduced its estimated losses this year, perhaps suggesting Liquidia is moving incrementally towards profitability. There was also an upgrade to revenue estimates, although as we saw earlier, forecast growth is only expected to be about the same as the wider market. Given that analysts appear to be expecting substantial improvement in the sales pipeline, now could be the right time to take another look at Liquidia.
