CHICAGO, October 28, 2021--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Attune Medical, a pioneering medical device company with a technology platform based on temperature management using the esophageal space, has added Ty Miller to the management team as National Sales Director. Miller has decades of award-winning commercial sales management experience with successful initiatives in gaining clinical acceptance and adoption of pioneering disruptive medical device technologies and procedures.
He joins Attune after nearly 15 years with AtriCure, driving the company’s innovative technology platform forward in the electrophysiology and cardiothoracic surgery spaces. Prior to Atricure, Ty was part of the original Biosense Webster sales organization, helping to introduce and establish the 3D mapping and navigation platform used for ablation procedures to treat atrial fibrillation.
"Ty brings a wealth of experience to Attune, and we are thrilled to have him join our team," commented Maria Gray, VP Clinical and Field Operations. "The field of patient temperature management is expanding rapidly, and Ty’s knowledge and history of success will help accelerate our ability to address growing customer demand to apply temperature management solutions using our esophageal-based platform across a wide range of applications and patient groups."
"I’m incredibly enthusiastic about joining Attune and contributing to moving this innovative technology forward," commented Miller. "My understanding of the market combined with my experiences developing adoption of novel platforms provides a unique perspective to support Attune, and I look forward to working with this team. "
Attune Medical’s ensoETM is a single use thermal regulating device that is placed in the esophagus (similar to a standard orogastric tube) and connected to an external heat exchange unit, creating a closed-loop system for heat transfer to increase or decrease patient temperature. Its placement in the esophagus, with proximity to blood flow from the heart and great vessels, allows highly efficient heat transfer. Unlike surface warming devices, ensoETM‘s internal placement doesn't impede patient access during surgery and allows gastric decompression and administration of fluids and medications.
Attune Medical has developed a novel medical device technology that simplifies access to the patient’s core to efficiently control temperature and is the only device FDA-cleared for use in the esophagus for patient temperature management. The ensoETM device is used in critical care units, operating rooms, and emergency departments for the intentional modulation of patient core temperature and can be rapidly placed by most trained healthcare professionals.
