Even if it's not a huge purchase, we think it was good to see that Jonathan Cheng, a Ultima United Limited (ASX:UUL) insider, recently shelled out AU$70k to buy stock, at AU$0.10 per share. Although the purchase is not a big one, by either a percentage standpoint or absolute value, it can be seen as a good sign.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Ultima United

Notably, that recent purchase by Jonathan Cheng is the biggest insider purchase of Ultima United shares that we've seen in the last year. So it's clear an insider wanted to buy, even at a higher price than the current share price (being AU$0.02). It's very possible they regret the purchase, but it's more likely they are bullish about the company. To us, it's very important to consider the price insiders pay for shares is very important. Generally speaking, it catches our eye when an insider has purchased shares at above current prices, as it suggests they believed the shares were worth buying, even at a higher price. Jonathan Cheng was the only individual insider to buy during the last year.

Does Ultima United Boast High Insider Ownership?

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Ultima United insiders own 68% of the company, currently worth about AU$400k based on the recent share price. I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.
