The latest trend taking social media by storm is Mr. Men & Little Miss memes, inspired by a beloved children’s cartoon.

The trend started on Instagram when meme account @juulpuppy began posting parodies of Mr. Men & Little Miss. Examples include: “Mr. Receding Hairline,” “Mr. Archive Designer Menswear,” and “Mr. Untoned Bleached Hair.”

What is inflation and what causes it?

Instagram users couldn’t get enough of the silly meme; the irony of the cute characters juxtaposed with cynical text led to @juulpuppy’s followers wanting more.

“WE NEED MORE THESE ARE SO FUNNY,” an Instagram user commented.

“I feel seen and heard,” another said.

“Please, someone make this into a hoodie,” someone else wrote.

The characters of Mr. Men & Little Miss originated in 1971 from the British children’s book series, “Mr. Tickle”; the female counterpart series “Little Miss” was published in 1981. The characters also had several TV shows, most notably Mr. Men and Little Miss (1995-97) and The Mr. Men Show (2008-2009).

Since the series’ humble beginnings in the U.K., the characters of Mr. Men & Little Miss have become internationally recognizable. According to Know Your Meme, there is now “a total of 92 Mr. Men and Little Miss characters, each having their book,” with the brand still creating new characters today.
