Yahoo Finance Investment Bank Moelis Probes Incident After Video of Employee Appearing to Punch Woman
(Bloomberg) -- A Moelis & Co. employee is on leave as the bank investigates an incident, after a video circulated online showing a man identified as one of the firm’s senior bankers appearing to punch a woman.

The video, posted on X, shows a man striking a woman, who then falls to the ground. The man, whose jacket is visibly wet, walks away from the scene as he’s criticized by onlookers.
“We are aware that one of our employees was involved in a serious incident in Brooklyn on June 8,” Moelis said in a statement sent by email on Monday. “We take this matter very seriously, and this employee is on leave as we continue to conduct our investigation.”
The online post identifies the man as Jonathan Kaye, a managing director who leads the business services franchise at the New York-based investment bank.
Kaye declined to comment when reached Sunday by Bloomberg.
The video doesn’t show the moments leading up to the incident, which occurred as thousands of people converged in the Park Slope neighborhood for Brooklyn Pride celebrations.
The Financial Times, citing a person briefed on the situation, said it happened after four people with a Palestinian flag tossed liquids on Kaye, who is Jewish, after he told them that they were “on the wrong side.” The person told the paper that Kaye fell and injured his knee.
“The NYPD is aware of the video,” the New York Police Department said by email on Monday. “We encourage anyone who has been a victim to file a police report. There are currently no complaint reports on file.”
