There are few events guaranteed to garner discussion, fanfare and excitement across the world. Sure, there’s exciting holidays like New Year’s Eve — but then there’s Apple’s new product keynote events.

The tech juggernaut made headlines yet again with the announcement of the highly anticipated iPhone 12 during its latest keynote presentation on Oct. 13. Four new iPhone 12 models are coming — and some are officially available for pre-order as of Oct. 16.

While new iPhones are historically made available for pre-order on the same day, this launch follows a new, staggered strategy. Only two of the four models are available for pre-order: the iPhone 12 and the iPhone Pro.

The iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro retail at starting prices of $799 and $999, respectively.

Pre-orders for both devices began on October 16, 2020 at 5 a.m. PT (8 a.m. ET), with phones widely available starting on Oct. 23.

The iPhone 12 is also available at Apple.com.

Pre-orders for the remaining two devices, iPhone 12 Mini and the iPhone 12 Pro Max, will begin on Nov. 6, and will be widely available starting on Nov. 13.

The iPhone 12 boasts a 6.1-inch “Super Retina XDR” display. In terms of size, it sits just between the soon-to-be-released iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max.

Setting it apart from the iPhone 11 and many of the iPhone’s earlier iterations, the iPhone 12 lineup of phones features flat edges, maintaining a nearly edge-to-edge display.

The iPhone 12 runs on Apple’s new A14 bionic chip, which the company says guarantees 15 percent faster speeds and 30 percent more power efficiency than the A13 chip. Along with the other newly released iPhones, the iPhone 12 also supports mmWave and sub-6 5G connectivity in the U.S.

But one of the most shocking tidbits about these new Apple launches is the fact that EarPods and a charging adapter are no longer included in the iPhone’s box. (Shocking news, we know!)

So while you wait for your new device arrive, we’ve rounded up six must-have accessories to get in place of the previously included iPhone accessories.

1. Apple AirPods Pro, $199 (Orig. $249)

Why you should buy it:

For the first time, Apple has decided to no longer include wired EarPods and a charging adapter in the box. Instead, the packaging will now just include the iPhone 12 and a USB-C cable.

To ensure that you can get the most out of your new iPhone, Apple’s latest AirPods Pros are a recommended investment. They’re currently $50 off on Amazon, so snag them before this deal ends.

2. Anker USB-C Wall Charger, $19.99

Why you should buy it:

Thanks to Apple’s decision to no longer include its “charging block,” investing in a new, long-lasting option from a reliable brand is your best bet. This option from Anker has garnered over 3,000 reviews on Amazon and has an overall rating of 4.7 stars. It also was recently upgraded to best suit the iPhone 12.

3. PhoneSoap 3 Smartphone UV Sanitizer, $79.95

Why you should buy it:

Sanitizing tech devices are now a must, as studies show that phones can actually be 10 times dirtier than a toilet seat. In an effort to ensure that your device remains sanitary with every use, we recommend investing in a UV sanitizing device like the PhoneSoap.

The popular device kills 99.99 percent of germs on the phone’s surface and fits all smartphones and most cases. It also includes two charging ports to allow it to act as a universal charger for your device.

4. Ampere HyperCube Wireless Charging Station And Sleep Aid, $169.95

Why you should buy it:

One of the star features of the iPhone 12 is its wireless charging capabilities, so why not ditch the cables altogether and charge your device with a Qi-enabled charger?

As a bonus, the Ampere HyperCube allows you to charge up to three Qi-enabled devices at once, so you have your AirPods on the cube simultaneously. It also serves as a nightstand alarm clock, a wake-up light, a sleep aid and includes 10 other functions.

5. Casetify Custom iPhone 12 Case, $65

Why you should buy it:

After investing in a premium device, it’s important that you protect it. Popular device case retailer Casetify recently released a collection of protective cases specifically designed for the iPhone 12, which offer all-around protection.

Starting at $50 the cases come in seven color options, and can be customized with a label or special colorway to fit your personal aesthetic.

6. Ailun Tempered Glass iPhone 12 Screen Protector, $6.98

Why you should buy it:

For reinforced device protection, we recommend investing in a tempered glass screen protector. A survey conducted by OnePoll found that the average American “drops their phone on the ground four times every week.” A screen protector can serve as a simple preventative solution, and this massively popular option (approved and designed for the iPhone 12) retails for only $7.

Investing in an accidental damage coverage plan is also a great choice, and Yahoo Plus Mobile Protect‘s plan only costs $5 a month.
