Irish Rookie Set For Adventure In New York?

Irish Rookie Set For Adventure In New York?

A trip to America is under serious consideration for Irish Rookie following her creditable effort in defeat at the Curragh.

Last season's French 1000 Guineas runner-up finished fourth on her return to action in Newmarket's Dahlia Stakes at the start of the month and raised her game to beat all bar Devonshire in the Lanwades Stud Stakes in Ireland last Saturday.

Irish Rookie holds an entry in the Duke of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot, but is more likely to be prepared for a trip across the Atlantic and an appearance on Belmont Stakes night in New York.

Trainer Martyn Meade said: "She's come out of it very well and it was just a shame she couldn't seem to quicken on that ground. The rain that came before the race certainly didn't help.

"We're thinking of taking her to Belmont next month, rather than going to Royal Ascot.

"There's a Group One on turf over a mile on June 11, the Longines Just A Game Stakes, and that might suit her well."
